Job Summary : Account Executives / Medical Biller / Coder are responsible for reviewing, researching, coding, and generating third party billing for a medical facility.
Completes and verifies ICD-10 coding. Inputs and maintains all payment records in database or systems. Performs basic customer service for routine patient or other inquiries
Reports to : Supervisors, CFO / Director of Operations

Job Responsibilities : Medical Billing / Coder Tasks :
Verify accuracy of billing data and revise any errors.
Review and retain medical records in order to compute fees and charges due.
Prepare bills or invoices, and record amount due for medical procedures and services.
Contact patients in order to obtain or relay account information.
Assembly and analysis of patient / therapist records.
Analyze and review medical records for completeness and accuracy of document according to specified standards and determine appropriate steps to follow.
Compile statistical information to be included in reports of medical activity.
Process and maintain release of information requests according to HIPAA regulations and company policies and procedures.
Analyze and compute timesheets

Knowledge of business and accounting processes usually obtained from bachelor's degree, with a degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Health Care Administration preferred.
High school diploma
Medical Billing and Medical Reception experience preferred
Medical Billing certification recommended
Previous medical billing experience along with knowledge of billing related reporting
1-2 years of experience working in a health information management department, especially in an electronic records environment.
Knowledge of record content
proficient in relevant computer applications such as MS Office
accurate keyboard skills and proven ability to enter data at the required speed
knowledge of correct spelling, grammar and punctuation
knowledge of clerical and administrative procedures
Must have very good verbal skills.
Must have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressures.
