Bachelor’s Degree in computer related or IT Management field or equivalent related experience is preferred.
1-3 years’ experience of software application development or application support management.
Amenable to work during off-hours, weekends and holidays whenever there are high severity issues (Priority 1 or Priority 2).
Strong knowledge of ITIL and ITSM (IT Service Management).
Strong familiarity of Agile principles especially Scrum and Kanban.
Familiarity with ITSM tools such as Service Now and monitoring tools such as New Relic.
Independent, resourceful, and has a high sense of urgency and accountability.
Familiarity with agile and DevOps principles, test-driven development, continuous integration, and other approaches to accelerate the delivery of new features.
Understanding of software development lifecycle.
Understanding of how technology supports Manulife business strategy.
Can write clear, readable and maintainable code, takes ownership of the quality and usability of code
Understands how to find and reuse patterns and platforms in the Manulife ecosystem and the broader community
Experience with technologies such as : React, React Native, Node, Angular, JQuery
Good API skills (technologies such as Express / Node, GraphQL / Relay, Flask, Jersey, Java Spring REST or WebApi2)
Good foundation in data structures, algorithms, and OO Design with rock-solid programming skills
Prioritizes efficient code production by using open-source frameworks and patterns.
Understands informal structure, company culture, cooperation & information sharing within the company.
Collaborative attitude, willingness to work with team members.
Good organizational and problem-solving skills.
Good verbal and written communication; able to effectively articulate technical vision, possibilities, and outcomes.
