  • Drive occupational health and safety, fire safety, industrial hygiene and maintaining H&S management system.
  • Prevent fatalities, injuries, and illnesses in the most effective way.
  • Works with and supports country management in developing, implementing and monitoring the facilities overall health and safety system and initiatives
  • Identifying and mitigating safety risks from the business

    Key Tasks

  • Monitor, review and interpret existing and proposed changes to occupational H&S regulations, Leadership / Training / Communication / Initiatives.
  • Conducts inspection and assessment to evaluate the business performance in relation to Corporate H&S directives, guidelines and regulatory requirement.
  • Support risk assessment program, provide assistance, training and advice.
  • Manage the H&S Intelex management software and ensure incident reporting in accordance to local and DHL guidelines.
  • Report H&S incidents to Country SMT and Head of Regional Health & Safety.
  • Lead investigation for H&S incidents and recommend control measures.
  • Design, implement and conduct H&S training and PD sessions on a regular basis.
  • Analyse H&S statistics to determine trends and assist in identifying priorities for action.
  • Ensure timely reporting of monthly / quarterly / annual site reports per local and DHL requirements.
  • Ensure effective H&S committee and communication system are implemented at country level.
  • Leads business initiative to achieve external H&S certifications. (e.g. ISO 45001)
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans and serves as the emergency coordinator for major events.
  • Develop working relationships and open communication at all levels including external enforcing authorities and emergency services.
  • Working with Engineering, suppliers, local management and staff perform risk assessments on all proposed and new processes and equipment prior to and post implementation or installation.
  • Management Responsibility

  • Member of APEC Health & Safety Committee to promote a positive H&S culture to all stakeholders, support Country Manager, Head of Regional H&S, Service Centre Managers and employees in operating a safe working environment.
  • Participate in business leadership team in the annual budgeting, strategic planning, corporate H&S governance, auditing, management system, best practice exchanges and compliance initiatives.
  • Assists business leadership in establishing objectives and metrics in alignment with company H&S goals and initiatives.
  • Provide coaching and development to business leadership.
  • Ability to recognise strategic opportunities and focus H&S resources to meet critical business needs, understand organisational dynamics and possess exceptional interpersonal skills.

  • As far as reasonably practicable the health & safety and welfare of workers under their direction or control.
  • As far as reasonably practicable the health and safety of others who may be present in the workplace such as customers, visitors, and clients.
  • That all regulations, procedures and safe work practices are enforced and followed at all times.
  • That workers have relevant information, instruction and training and assessment to enable them to complete the planned activities in a safe manner
  • Implement and monitor compliance of workplace health and safety policies, procedures and safety rules in their area of control
  • Provide adequate supervision
  • Employees under your area of responsibility participate in work health and safety training programs as directed by DHL
  • Encouragement of appropriate attitudes towards work health and safety
  • Identify, eliminate or control hazards and risk in your work areas as per the hazard and incident reporting and risk assessment and management procedures

  • Bachelor Degree or diploma with focus on Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
  • At least 5 years in leading health & safety management system and experience relevant to the work to be carried out by a H&S Manager.
  • Strong communication, leadership, training, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to influence change at all levels of the organisation.
  • Experience in managing compliance issues, regulatory reviews, permit preparation, reporting and record keeping.
  • Possess professional written / verbal communication skills to include technical reports and group presentations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with facility and corporate personnel
