BASIC FUNCTION

Responsible for acting as an internal resource testing technical project(s) throughout the

development and implementation phase providing feedback to develpment team to ensure system

meets business needs; based on project assignments, participate in activities related to consulting

with end users (i.e., clients, internal customers, etc.) to determine the scope and objectives of

proposed programs or program enhancements, assisting with identifying requirements utilizing

end user feedback; may write code for new and existing programs based on detailed design

specifications and given requirements while adhering to established policies, procedures, and

MAJOR JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

Program Testing and Documentation - Act as an internal resource testing technical project(s)

throughout the development and implementation phase providing feedback to development team

to ensure system meets business needs

  • Work with development team to gain a thorough understanding of the project scope and system
  • capabilities to assist in developing the test plan

  • Develop a thorough and detailed test plan to include load, mod, integration and regression
  • testing and testing of program functionality

  • Create test environments, run and evaluate results, testing for accuracy and accomplishment of
  • defined goals, identifying all problems and inconsistencies

  • Test program in its entirety to ensure negative impacts do not result once program alterations
  • are completed

  • Participate in go-live activation to identify and then resolve any issues or concerns
  • May be required to provide on-going program support after implementation which may include
  • additional training, upgrades, or enhancements

  • Assist with the development of user documentation and training materials in a timely manner
  • May participate in documenting each step of the test plan to include back out plan, testing,
  • implementation and end user support information, describing program development, coding,

    testing, changes and corrections

    Analysis and Design - Based on project assignments, participate in activities related to

    consulting with end users (i.e., clients, internal customers, etc.) to determine the scope and

    objectives of proposed programs or program enhancements, assisting with identifying

    requirements utilizing end user feedback

  • Create detailed design specifications for the new design request or requested program
  • enhancements and modifications, which may include logical and physical design, providing

    sample outputs, screen designs, functional descriptions, software design, and input and output

    management for review by end users

  • May provide project lead with an estimate of the work involved with requested program or
  • enhancement

  • May analyze and document system requirements for data, workflow, logical and physical
  • processes, hardware and operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, internal

    and external checks and controls, outputs, etc., determining if requested program or program

    change is possible with existing resources

  • Review analysis and design documentation with end users and appropriate staff, updating
  • design based on discussions and development changes

    Coding - May write code for new and existing programs based on detailed design specifications

    and given requirements while adhering to established policies, procedures, and deadlines

  • Receive and review enhancement or modification requests, analyzing existing code to
  • determine changes that need to be made and ensuring understanding of defined goals and scope

    of request

  • As assigned, perform incremental testing while developing code to ensure program is meeting
  • the stated requirements and is error-free, making corrections and re-testing until no errors are

    found and documenting results

  • May study existing systems or methods available to solve a programming problem or find an
  • existing program that is similar and modify the code to meet the new request

  • Analyze code, thoroughly troubleshooting to find causes of errors and revise programs
  • May carry out code walk through and / or demonstration for appropriate staff
  • Problem Resolution - Proactively oversee the activities involved in quality resolution of

    problems related to area of responsibility

  • Respond with a sense of urgency to problems escalated to employee's level
  • Escalate to supervisor any situation outside the employee's control that could adversely impact
  • the services being provided

  • Place the highest priority on providing quality customer service, ensuring the unique needs of
  • customers are met

  • Ensure quality resolution and thorough and accurate documentation of customer issues
  • Provide analysis and feedback to management staff and appropriate departments regarding
  • recurring problems, recommending improvements aimed at reducing future occurrences of

    problems

  • Participate in creating, administering, and continuously updating procedures for resolution of
  • all related issues

    Project Participation - Participate in the activities associated with a variety of departmental

    projects ensuring established timelines are met

  • Prepare reports, material and documentation as requested
  • May update project plan
  • Create and maintain organized project files
  • Provide project lead with status reports throughout assigned projects detailing project status
  • and timeline

    Team Interfaces - Establish and maintain a professional relationship with internal / external

    customers, team members and department contacts

  • Cooperate with team members to meet goals or complete tasks
  • Provide quality customer service that exceeds customer expectations and improves level of
  • service being provided

  • Treat all internal / external customers, team members and department contacts with
  • dignity / respect

  • Escalate to supervisor any situation outside the employee's control that could adversely impact

    Applicant for this job will be expected to meet the following minimum qualifications.

    Education

  • Either an Associate's degree in computer science, MIS, or a related field or a Programming
  • Certificate from a recognized institution is required

  • A Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, or a related field is preferred
  • Equivalent work experience in a similar position may be substituted for education requirements
  • Experience

  • Minimum two years' experience in business operations with an emphasis on testing or
  • process / procedural documentation required

    Technical

  • Minimum two year's programming experience using a standard coding langague (e.g., Java, C,
  • C++, HTML, PERL, SQL, Visual Basic, COBOL, etc.) is required

  • Minimum two years' experience with a testing tool platform (e.g., Winrunner, Test Director,
  • LoadRunner, etc.) required

  • Based on area of responsibility and department need : One year experience with Hammer
  • Technologies Test Harness for creating telephoney performance / stress test case scenarios

    Other

  • Based on area of responsibility and department need : Oracle or Informix certification preferred
