JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS :
The Department of Pathology is seeking a conscientious, organized and detail oriented individual for the management of academic enrichment, general, miscellaneous, endowments and restricted funds.
As manager of the funds, the position is responsible for keeping organized and complete records to maintain a sufficient audit trail, as well as ensuring that proper accounting processes are followed.
The Accountant will compile data for analysis and forecasting purposes as needed by the Department Chair as well as develop and present the annual budget.
Manage the post award administration for the department while ensuring compliance with University Policies and Procedures as well as applicable state and federal regulations, advise faculty in regards to spending on their grants and departmental funds Additional responsibilities but not limited to : compiling reports, approving SIMBA forms and SAP Concur reports, reconciling p-card transactions, prepare and submit invoices for grants as needed, capital equipment inventory for the department, ensure the correct cash handling process and work closely with departmental pre-award staff in the creation of budgets for grant submissions.
Prepare and process salary distributions for College of Medicine employees using Mendix. Serve as a liaison between College Human Resources and the Controller’s Office on Payroll and Human Resource issues.
Develop and initiate process improvements. Train and assist departmental staff with University systems. Attend meetings as required.
The ideal candidate will have outstanding oral and written communication skills; time management skills, the ability to work collaboratively, effectively, and professionally with leadership, faculty, staff, and external partners and a demonstrated ability to exercise discretion in confidential matters is required.
Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree or higher plus six years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
A degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is preferred. Proficiency with SAP (SIMBA), FIT, SAP Concur (Employee’s Reimbursement System),Workday, Shop On-Lion, eSteward, Excel, and financial data tools is highly desirable.

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR).
The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters.
