About the opportunity
Responsible for all phases of design planning and execution on medium to large size plant and process engineering projects of significant complexity.
Plans, organizes, coordinates, and controls the design and engineering of the project in accordance with the established policies, procedures, systems, and requirements approved by the company.
Is responsible for the entire design. Supervises engineering and design personnel directly or through subordinate leaders on a project by project basis.
May be working on concurrent projects as Design Manager.
May serve as a proposal manager to the projects to which they will be assigned.
Support business development activities through client meetings, business marketing events and proposal support
Develops an integrated set of functional / discipline design management and execution plans (i.e., execution schedule, organisation plan, work plan, task workflow, QA / QC plan, technical review plans)
Supports the project manager in the completion of project plans and documents (i.e project execution plan, budget and forecast planning, communications plan, project audits and customer satisfaction surveys)
Manages the application of appropriate coordination, and implements regular reviews and controls to monitor design progress.
Develops project schedules and resource plans and requirements for all aspects of the design.
Interprets and understands all of the key elements of the project schedule (such as critical path, actual versus planned activities, etc.
to identify adverse trends and take correction action when required.
Applies forward planning with schedule to resource the design appropriately. Foresees issues and proactively works with section managers to implement resourcing solutions.
Implements a clear review of lessons learned and how to implement potential changes into project delivery.
Ensures Company methodologies, processes, tools and systems are used throughout the project and compliance requirements are met / satisfied.
Applies knowledge of all aspects of a project (engineering, procurement, quality control, construction, operations etc.
to oversee the successful execution of the project plan.
Establishes processes and protocols for the documentation and cost control of the project.
Creates and implements tracking and reporting requirements.
Strong understanding of all Jacobs Corporate procedures, tools protocols and systems.

Identifies and understands the client’s key drivers (KPIs).
Prepares and implements a communication plan based on the scope of work. Adapts the communication plan to suit the need and priorities of the client and the type of work.
Understands client delivery models and effectively identifies and manages different stakeholders.
Proactively supports continuous improvement processes and promotes sustainable and effective delivery as per Jacobs Value+ and Sustainability+ practices
Participate and lead lessons learnt workshops to promote good behaviours and encourage forward looking improvement
Leads a project design team that may be comprised of multi-discipline members.
Implements communication tools and process to ensure all team members are informed about project status and key performance indicators.
Oversees, motivates and monitors the performance of the team, ensuring quality and timeliness of assignments and roles, and addresses any performance gaps.
Performance and Career Management : Supports performance and career dialogue approaches within the Project, assists staff with career planning activities within project activities.
Talent management; takes responsibility for developing and retaining identified talent in the Project; participates in Talent Review process to provide feedback on project personnel performance
Learning and Development : Works with the leadership team to identify individual learning and development requirements.
Mentor individual staff as appropriate to support their learning and development goals.
Promotes use of Reward and Recognition programs to recognise outstanding performance on the Project
Support Technical Director framework and local technical leadership activities within Service Lines
Degree in Engineering with either Process or Mechanical Background,
10 15 years of relevant Design Engineering experience
