Position Overview

MSCI is seeking to expand its global ESG Ratings Analyst team. The analyst is expected to have a strong interest in water / climate change trends and specific knowledge about how it affects different industries.

The analyst will work on developing new models and methodologies and enhancing existing products to assess climate change and water related risk and opportunities faced by different industries.

In addition, the analyst will serve as the first point of contact for all model and methodology related queries by internal and external clients.

A qualified candidate would have experience in conducting analysis of quantitative and qualitative data, ability to work in a diverse team, collaborate with different functions & teams, and have strong facility with modeling.

Besides prior experience in Climate Change or Water or other ESG related themes, any other relevant industry experience or expertise in the Energy, Transportation, or Utilities industries would also be highly regarded.

Scope of Responsibility

  • Developing / Implementing new models and methodologies to assess climate change risk and opportunities
  • Contribution to ongoing improvement of existing products
  • Review and enhance the quality of the deliverable produced on climate change / water related theme
  • Collaborate with and assist various internal teams to implement the new / existing products
  • Serve as the first point of contact for all client queries on climate change models and methodologies
  • Specific Knowledge / Skills

  • Conducting water and carbon footprint for organization
  • Strong understanding of the various protocols and frameworks for water / carbon footprints
  • Excellent research skills and strong analytical skills.
  • Strong Communication skills- both oral and written
  • Problem solving skills
  • Self-starter and self-motivated
  • Should be solutions focused and have the ability to work in unstructured environments
  • Attention to detail and good analytical skills
  • Comfortable working in a team environment across hierarchies, functions and geographies
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision
  • Desired Experience

    Minimum of 5-6 years of full-time professional experience in :

  • Sustainability / ESG / Climate Change consulting OR
  • Analytical roles within key industries with experience of conducing Carbon / Water footprint
  • Relevant Public Policy / NGO / Academic organizations
  • Desired Qualifications

  • Minimum of Bachelors' degree required. Advanced degree in related field (Masters or PhD) or CFA is preferred but not required.
