The Zebrafish Core and Cheng Lab at Penn State College of Medicine are hiring one fish feeder to help with the husbandry care of approximately 10,000 zebrafish in the fish core and satellite facilities.

Responsibilities include harvesting brine shrimp, feeding zebrafish that are housed in various size aquariums, ranging from one to 10 gallons, cleaning and maintaining the aquaria and facilities.

Hours are between 8 : 00 am and 12 : 00 pm during the work week totaling 20 hours per week. At times, the hours and time might change because of changes in schedules of team member, but will be informed two weeks in advance.

This is done to ensure the best care are provided for the fish. The is a potential for the position to be full-time in the future as the core utilization increase.

Must be able to communicate and work well with others, follow specific directions, meticulous, work independently, use a 3-step step stool and lift up to 30 lbs.

Applicants are also expected to know how to use Microsoft Words and Excel, and basic computer knowledge to take online courses.

He / she must be willing to go through a short training period and work in a warm and humid environment. All are encouraged to apply.
