Our Graduate Sport Development Coaches at Dollar Academy will be expected to carry out a range of duties across different departments of the school and you may be called upon to assist in a variety of ways, depending on the needs of the moment.
However, the main purpose of this position will be to improve and educate players within the Dollar Academy rugby and hockey programmes.
You may be required to help with other activities on the cultural and academic front where you have a particular talent or interest, and you may also be asked to accompany members of staff when they take groups of pupils away on camps, trips, excursions etc.
When you travel away with teams / groups, you will be of considerable assistance to the members of staff involved.
Your approach should be friendly, but not over-familiar. You need to be firm in your dealings with pupils, taking care to remember you are a member of staff.
You need to know when, where and how to seek help if you discern a problem with any pupil. You should always be punctual and be aware of your job description, school rules, staff handbook, and in particular, the policies on bullying and child protection.
You will receive full board and lodging (including all meals and laundry) throughout each school term, including weekends.
For a number of reasons, guests are not permitted. During school holidays, your accommodation may be available to you, but the school kitchen closes during the holidays, and you would have to make special arrangements for meals if you were staying at school during the holidays.
