Manulife’s Finance Operations is seeking for an individual, who is obsessed with delivering value, is forward-thinking, and is primarily responsible for driving and supporting global sourcing and contracting events in the low impact stream of Manulife’s indirect spend categories including, IT (either or all of Hardware, Software, SaaS, Telecom) and Professional Services.

The role is strategic in maintaining the relationship between the Company and its third-party vendors during the course of the end to end procurement process with a focus on client satisfaction, as well as support for the Category Managers in-line with the Buy Better strategy of the Procurement organization.

  • We are looking for someone with :

  • Graduate of any 4-year university course, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Electronics and Communications Engineering, Finance or other related disciplines.
  • Minimum of 5-years experience in Procurement and Supply Chain; experience in IT, Application Management Outsourcing or BPO categories an advantage.
  • Familiarity with global contracts including main clauses required for specific types of agreement
  • Knowledge of Procurement or Finance applications and systems, databases and reporting tools allowing for high level spend assessment and analytics.
  • Highly engaged with strong communication, interpersonal skills and service-oriented attitude to stakeholders and customers
  • Strong multitasking skills with an aptitude to make the right decision on competing priorities and deadlines
  • Attentive to details, innovative and result driven with a high level of initiative
  • Operates in a professional and ethical manner with customers and vendors
  • Familiarity with Project Management process and application
  • Strong PC skills and proficiency with MS excel, Word, Powerpoint, etc.
  • Amenable to work on night shift.
  • On the job you will :

    Sourcing

  • Lead and drive structured sourcing initiatives in IT Tower (such as RFPs, RFIs, RFQs, and single source) in the low impact stream, in accordance with business requirements while working within stakeholder-imposed timelines and ensuring the integrity of the bidding process.
  • Establish and maintain a collaborative relationship with third party vendors from project kick-off until contract execution.
  • Conduct negotiations and secure deals that drive savings or cost avoidance and meet and fulfill business requirements with stakeholder approval using appropriate procurement strategies.
  • Strategically manage Low Impact Spend by working in close coordination with Category Managers
  • Support and manage Low Impact spend and rationalize the number of Contracts / Suppliers
  • Develop and share best practices and external market dynamics to deliver value
  • Ensure that projects are conducted in compliance with internal procurement policies.
  • Manage the mailbox and work intake tools to ensure timely resolution of stakeholder queries and concerns; accurate documentation of project development;
  • and prompt communication of relevant issues and updates with business partners.

    Strategy and Planning

  • Drive and champion established procurement strategies for each sourcing event in accordance with their respective spend categories.
  • Maintain a mutually beneficial engagement with Category Managers to allow for sharing of best practices and ensure alignment with category strategies.
  • Coordinate with functional subject matter experts such as Risk, Legal, Finance, and Tax to ensure compliance with the Company’s standards from a contractual standpoint.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor strategies and market suppliers for the respective category
