Job Summary :

The Senior Accountant is responsible for undertaking all tax & accounting activities, including preparation, review and analysis of financial statements and taxation returns and deliver associated quality, professional accounting outcomes.

The ideal candidate has in-depth knowledge of Australian taxation, bookkeeping, and admin procedures and will be an asset to the Accounting team.

Job Description :

  • Prepare financial statements, and tax returns (corporate, individual, trusts, and SMSF)
  • Prepare Business Activity Statements (BAS), Instalment Activity Statements (IAS) and client payroll tax reports
  • Organize and update financial records as needed (digital) for tax purposes
  • Consider and implement taxation planning for tax minimization
  • Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analysing account information
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and prepare management accounts
  • Stay informed on industry developments and changes in regulations
  • Work with a team of accountants and manage workflow, timeliness, and accuracy
  • Assume responsibility of accounting procedures and administrative functions and reports
  • Proactive communication with clients on paperwork follow ups
  • Deliver operating efficiencies through accounting and business systems
  • General bookkeeping & Accounting procedures and other ad hoc tasks as required
  • Job Qualifications :

  • Certified Public Accountant or Chartered Accountant is preferred
  • At least 5+ years of experience as Tax Accountant or similar role in Australian accounting industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or any relevant field
  • Great knowledge of basic and advanced accounting and financial principles and practices
  • Working knowledge on GST, BAS, and IAS
  • Demonstrated experience preparing financial accounts, tax returns and activity statements
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and retain effective client relationships
  • Proficiency in using Xero, and Xero Tax
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organise and prioritize
  • Very keen attention to detail and high levels of initiative
  • Outstanding analytical, problem solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal English business communication skills
