Shift : The Role
Markets and Treasury Control is responsible for the accounting and financial reporting of a trading desk. The primary function is preparation of the daily profit and loss statement, whilst ensuring a strong operating control environment around trading systems and processes.
Provide quality business finance support to the Trading Desks, Market Risk, Operations, Business Heads and Finance Departments, with the support of more senior Product Control team members.
Build collaborative relationships with Markets & Treasury Control team (globally) and other key stakeholders in order to understand their information requirements.
Production of the daily P&L using tools available, ensuring compliance with daily key controls.
Completing monthend processes, including various reconciliations and preparing for BSO process.
Participate in wider M&TC initiative projects.
Contribute to the simplification and efficiency improvements surrounding daily, monthly and other routine PC processes.
University graduate, with demostrable interest in financial markets.
Strong interest and theoretical knowledge of financial markets & instruments essential.
Product Control experience preferred. Rates or FX product knowledge preferred.
Qualified accountant (or currently undertaking an accounting qualification) preferred (e.g. CA, CPA, ACCA).
Ability to work independently and take initiative to improve quality & efficiency of work.
Strong analytical & problem solving skills
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
