JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS :

A Research Technician position is available immediately in Dr. Zhonghua Gao's Lab at the Penn State University College of Medicine.

The newly renovated lab is located in the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department with joint support from the Cancer Institute.

The lab has a broad interest in understanding how chromatin modifications by epigenetic regulators affect mammalian development as well as diseased states, such as autism spectrum disorders and cancer.

Highly motivated individuals willing to conduct bench work aiming to uncover novel biological mechanisms are recommended to apply.

The job responsibilities also include maintaining the routine operation of the lab, such as placing orders of reagents, making stock solutions, etc.

Typically requires :

a Bachelor's degree or higher

plus one year of related experience,

or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience with cell culture of transformed cells and embryonic stem cells is preferred.

Qualifications include :

a minimum of a BS in a relevant field,

scientific research experience,

and a proficiency in basic molecular biology techniques.

The ideal candidate will have :

good organizational skills,

as well as an ability both to follow directions carefully

and to solve common problems independently.

The candidate should also be proficient at :

multitasking,

prioritizing responsibilities,

managing time,

and interacting with all levels of staff in a multicultural environment.

Salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience and qualifications.

This is a fixed term appointment funded one year from date of hire with the possibility of refunding.
