Position Description

The Return to Work Coordinator will directly assist McKesson employees, business units, third party administrator and health care providers to coordinate return-to-work and stay-at-work activities for employees with a temporary or permanent disability caused by a workplace injury.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Contribute to the establishment of a best in class’ return-to / stay-at return to work culture at McKesson
  • Ensure that the most effective return to work approaches are consistently applied across all McKesson business units
  • Work closely with injured workers and business leaders to achieve timely return to work
  • Assist in identifying timely, suitable, and meaningful duties
  • Actively works with physicians to clarify medical restrictions, limitations, and their impact on work functionality.
  • Work actively to obtain suitable alternative employment when on-site return-to-work is unavailable
  • Coach managers / supervisors to develop their knowledge and understanding of injury management obligations
  • Set follow-ups with Workers’ Compensation lead to re-review claims where function is expected to increase and / or release to RTW is anticipated.
  • Monitor the progress of an injured worker’s recovery in the transitional job
  • Lead the build out of a transitional job bank for all business units
  • Prepare reports / correspondence related to return to work management status and performance to build support for the program
  • Identify trends and barriers to RTW to work with internal partners to develop proactive solutions.
  • Help employees and leaders resolve return to work related issues
  • Work collaboratively with Global Risk Management claims team to optimize efficacy and performance of return to work program
  • Maintain tracking and trends for return to work programs
  • Support the Senior Workers’ Compensation Leader with the completion of required statutory filings for self-insured states
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and new resources
  • Additional duties as required.
  • Minimum Requirements :

    Degree or equivalent and typically requires 2+ years of relevant experience.

    Critical Skills :

  • Experience in a similar Return to Work or associated role
  • Exposure to medical terminology; knowledge of impact of medical conditions on work functions, job assessment and worksite accommodations
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Special Skills :

  • Ability to assist the employee and business unit to balance the needs of individuals with the needs of the workplace
  • Ability to work with people in distress, as well as with busy managers / supervisors who are juggling business demands
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to promote teamwork within the initiative by being positive, cooperative and take on additional duties as requested
  • Ability to be highly organized and handle multiple priorities efficiently and effectively
  • Education

    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
