The Actuarial Valuation (AV) team is an internal service center that provides high quality and efficient valuation work for pension and post retirement plans for Canada, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan, Korea and other countries.
Work performed by the team includes actuarial funding and accounting valuations, system implementation and migration, costings and others.
The Role As a Project Leader, you will lead a range of client projects for different offices. You will effectively manage clients, projects, and team members to meet or exceed client expectations.
You will work with client teams across different offices. You will oversee a diverse team of actuarial analysts and senior actuarial analysts, providing technical review of work product along with training and performance guidance as needed and act as a coach, mentor and role model for junior associates.
Performance Objectives : Excellence Perform technical review of work products Contribute to the development of new tools and approaches Identify opportunities to enhance quality and / or improve processes to reduce costs People Build relationships internally and collaborate effectively with client teams in different offices and demonstrate natural ease and effectiveness when dealing with colleagues at all levels Serve as mentor to other associates.
Provide feedback to junior team members, may include people management responsibilities. Delegate and leverage work effectively for efficiency and development of associates.
Take responsibility for retaining key talent and minimizing regrettable turnover. Ensure succession planning on key roles and projects.
Identify and is engaged in potential non-billable activities (e.g., recruiting) to help ensure success of center. May lead an internal committee to improve process or training.
regularly solicits feedback from consulting team, manage expectations and effectively addresses consulting team satisfaction issues.
Remove any barriers from collaboration with consulting team. Serve as primary interface between AV team and consulting team.
Ensures associates are interacting effectively with consulting office teams. Ensure associates are integrated into the consulting team.
Financial Meet billable hour targets Monitor under- and over utilized associates and addresses concerns. Manage projects and leverage resources to produce quality deliverables on time and within budget Manage the financials of projects / countries independently.
The Requirement Undergraduate degree in Math related major 10 years + of performing core retirement work and an in-depth understanding of the funding of and accounting for retirement and other post-
retirement benefit plans Proven experience in successfully managing multiple projects and producing quality deliverables on time and within budget Excellent oral and written communications skills and the ability to communicate effectively with client teams Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with other team members, and to provide guidance and leadership working with diverse team members.
