The candidate filling this position will be required to research, develop and implement test hardware technology to provide test capability to support the global engineering and manufacturing groups.
The development areas include final test interconnects and tester / handler mechanical interfaces. The position requires the following :
Project management of multiple projects simultaneously.
Maintain communications with the global Microchip team.
Create schedules and expectations for deliverables.
Develop contactor designs for singulated and strip-test to support Microchip production.
Develop mechanical fixtures for Microchip test systems.
Work with Test Hardware Engineering to develop contactor and mechanical footprints for PCB layout.
Work with external vendors for design and fabrication of contactors and mechanical fixtures
Support production with issues involving contactors and mechanical systems
Process improvement and documentation
Participate in cross-functional teams as mechanical team representative
Create full documentation package for submission to document control
Facilitate re-orders of contactors and mechanical fixtures
Requires BS in Mechanical, Electronic or Mechatronics engineering and at least 2 years of direct experience supporting semiconductor manufacturing test operation
Good interpersonal, communication and presentation skills to communicate with multi-national team members and suppliers
Good project management skills to manage several projects at one time
Must be familiar with using any mechanical CAD software such Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, Solidworks and others
Good debug and problem-solving skills, data analysis and report generation
Can create and perform design of experiments
Ability to identify the root cause and then be able to determine the best solution
Must be able to drive process improvements in designing mechanical fixtures that will be used as peripherals on the PCB
A good understanding of design simulation and material properties is a plus
Background and experience in the semiconductor industry are a plus
