Role accountabilities :

The main responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to :

  • Work collaboratively with other design disciplines to ensure the integration of the overall design or solution
  • Collaborate with other team members to deliver project requirements
  • Work effectively with Global Design colleagues and in accordance with agreed project working arrangements
  • Develop strong working knowledge of Arcadis standard and project specific BIM Execution Plan (BEP) to support implementation of these plans
  • Maintain understanding of relevant state, national and international BIM standards.
  • Coordinate the production of project BIM deliverables including models that are accurate, clear and concise, compliant with Arcadis standards, best practice and any other standards dictated by the nature of the project
  • Coordinate BIM modellers, engineers and other technicians to ensure that designs and models are developed in accordance with the agreed BEP
  • Develop awareness of the engineering design intent to ensure models developed are consistent with that intent
  • Develop awareness of relevant project design delivery program to ensure BIM deliverables can be delivered within the agreed program and highlight timing issues to relevant delivery managers as soon as they become apparent
  • Develop awareness of the client’s intended end uses of models developed and identify any improvements with modelling / BIM processes to better align with those end uses.
  • Coordinate content, timing and integration of individual BIM models from all disciplines into wider federated BIM model
  • Provide modelling guidance to other members of the BIM team
  • Operate as a competent technician with little supervision
  • Deliver work that meets client and Arcadis requirements (as set out in the BEP)
  • Assist with the coaching and development and the development of capabilities of other BIM practitioners
  • Build an understanding of the coordination of all elements of a project and how it ultimately interfaces with the client
  • Resolve modelling and coordination issues
  • Run clash detection for discipline and interdisciplinary issues
  • Administration of clash resolution
  • Assisting in the maintenance of the CDE
  • Support the coordination of interfaces of technical work including models and drawings with other disciplines
  • Ensure the production of coordinated project models that are accurate, clear and concise and compliant with best practice and any other quality standards dictated by the nature of the project
  • Check and verify that quality requirements have been achieved in accordance with the Arcadis Integrated Management System
  • Successfully manage, plan, resource and complete assigned BIM modelling work within agreed budget and deadlines
  • Keep up to date with developments in the industry sector and with technical and legislative developments and seek out opportunities to develop a strong professional profile
  • Maintain records of Continuing Professional Development and are able to make these available for audit by their professional institution
  • Check the models with the objectives and conditions
  • Check the different aspect models on consistency
  • Make proposals for any design adjustments to be made, and discuss and consult with the relevant members of the team
  • Monitor the implementation of possible adjustments in aspect models
  • Generate graphical or (alfa)numeric output for the benefit of production
  • Control, monitor and steer the BIM process with the necessary tools
  • Coach and guide involved employees with the implementation and application of BIM
  • Guide a project team through the BIM process and provide ad hoc assistance to the wider practice when required
  • Liaise with the project team, client and consultants to review all BIM models for the project and make any necessary amendments
  • Support Arcadis BIM leadership in implementation of Arcadis 100% BIM policy
  • Engaging in Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
  • Performing other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time as directed by your manager or Arcadis
  • Ensuring you are familiar and compliant with Health and Safety regulations and guidelines
  • Qualifications & Experience :

    Who are we looking for? You will have :

  • Minimum of 5 years’ industry experience in the BIM field
  • Have a qualification in a relevant technical subject including elements of Modelling (HNC / HND or equivalent)
  • Have achieved Engineering Technician status or equivalent through a recognised professional institution
  • Have substantial (production) experience in design, drafting or engineering and BIM
  • Understand and comply with the Code of Conduct operated by professional institution
  • Undertake engineering work in a way that contributes to sustainable development. This could include an ability to operate and act responsibly, taking account of the need to progress environmental, social and economic outcomes simultaneously
  • Are experienced in using Integrated Management System requirements to support delivery of design and engineering projects
  • Prepare design risk assessment to accompany hazard identification during design development
  • Have familiarity with Health and Safety regulations and guidelines
  • Are experienced in use of project Design Decision Logs and Project Assumptions registers to record and agree key project decisions
  • Review and select appropriate techniques, procedures and methods to undertake tasks
  • Identify problems and apply appropriate methods to identify causes and achieve satisfactory solutions
  • Identify, organise and use resources effectively to complete tasks, with consideration for cost, quality, safety, security and environmental impact
  • Accept, allocate and supervise technical and other tasks
  • Have advanced proficiency with relevant desktop applications.
  • Able to use a range of computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems and presenting results
  • Have excellent time management skills
  • Able to provide input to estimates for the modelling budget and schedule and to oversee technical resources to meet requirements on small to medium sized projects
  • Have capability to use upwards of 2 / 3 BIM software programs
  • Able to apply their design experience to the models they produce
  • Have capability to use ICT tools for viewing and coordinating the BIM
  • Have experience in defining BIM outcomes
  • Have experience in setting up and coordinating a BIM Protocol and Execution Plan for a given project
