Clinical Solutions’ flagship product ClinicalKey (CK) is beleaguered with complex go to market process and back office challenges, limiting the speed of new product launch and to achieve its full revenue potential.

Operational Excellence has the charter to drive improvement initiatives to address these challenges.

Back Office Challenges limiting CK from achieving its full revenue potential can be categorized broadly into two categories : -

  • Complexities
  • Constraints
  • Complexities made it complicated to setup, test and launch CK product timely, increases ongoing maintenance overhead. Factors contributing to the complexities are such as : -

  • Too many tools, creating complexity / confusion
  • Silos between departments & globally dispersed team
  • Misplaced & loss of Institutional Knowledge
  • Underestimated, or lack awareness of back office importance
  • Constraints are systems & processes limitation due to(legacy) business rules such as : -

  • Single title to package within a product
  • Package-based revenue allocation method
  • Consecutive logins

  • Key Tasks :

    The Business Analyst, in collaboration with the Sr. Manager of Operational Excellence is responsible for addressing the CK Challenges by engaging with senior leaders across Elsevier to conduct fact-based analyses and problem solving, and develop actionable recommendations to drive improvements in speed to market, cost and customer experience.

    Re)design, optimize and implement the improved solution for CK GTMN and E2E testing

  • Maintain & own the GTMN & E2E testing process for both B2B and B2C channels
  • Lead, coordinate, and monitor E2E testing for CK products
  • Monitor project deliverables and progress through continuous communication with the key stakeholders
  • Keeps appropriate people informed on any E2E testing / project progress
  • Key Responsibilities :

  • Ensure the timely delivery of project results that meet or exceed agreed-upon metrics or goals
  • Structures identified business challenges logically
  • Conduct in-depth analyses (when required), including data collection, data analyses, and synthesis of data to generate key insights for improvement effort
  • Develop presentations for senior management to facilitate discussions on project or program progress, results and assistance needed from them
  • Generate insights based on tools including (but not limited to) stakeholder interviews, desk research, discussions with subject matter experts, focus groups, and surveys
  • Ensure disciplined, data-driven, well-documented approaches to improving end-to-end operational performance led by voice of the customer
  • Quantify impact of projects on financials, productivity, customer experience and compliance
  • Recognize when there are obstacles preventing us from achieving our goals and readily intervenes and finds resourceful ways to remove them
  • Develop and maintain relationships with senior leadership and Services
  • QUALIFICATIONS :

  • 3 - 5 years of enterprise level applications support and integration experience
  • Proven knowledge of supporting and maintaining production computer systems such as Enterprise ERP (user administration, order fulfillment, invoicing to cash etc.) will be a plus.
  • Project coordination experience
  • Basic Finance knowledge (Record to Report, basic accounting, revenue recognition). Understanding how Royalty payment works is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in technology or equivalent experience required
  • TECHNICAL SKILLS :

  • Agile knowledge is plus.
  • Confluence / JIRA knowledge is plus.
  • Data analysis skills.
  • Experience partnering with other project stakeholders to resolve issues and to mitigate project impacts.
  • A results-oriented outlook with the ability to prioritize and deliver key initiatives.
  • Exemplary communication skills (written, presentation, meeting management, and documentation).
  • Ability to partner with other project stakeholders to resolve issues and to mitigate project impacts.
  • Experience delivering on projects of various size and duration.
  • Adaptable to changing needs within the organization adapts to rapidly changing priorities.
  • Experience collaborating with others to deliver shared results.
  • Strong professionalism and strong interpersonal skills required.
  • Detail-oriented and the ability to handle multiple concurrent projects and priorities.
  • Good organization / project planning, time management, and change management skills across multiple functional groups and departments, and strong delegation skills involving prioritizing and reprioritizing projects and managing projects of various size and complexity.
  • Problem-solving experience to effectively troubleshoot / diagnose complex project issues; prior success extracting / translating findings into alternatives / solutions;
  • and identifying risks / impacts and schedule adjustments to facilitate management decision-making.
